Privacy notice
Last updated: [DATE]
This notice explains what personal information METS Tutoring collects about parents, carers and pupils, what we do with it, and what rights you have over it. It applies to this website and to tuition we provide.
Who we are
METS Tutoring is the data controller for the information described here. We are a [sole trader / partnership] trading as METS Tutoring, based at [BUSINESS ADDRESS].
You can contact us about anything in this notice by email at [email protected] or by phone on 07954 721044.
We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office, registration number [ICO NUMBER].
What we collect
- About the parent or carer: name, phone number, email address, and the address where sessions take place.
- About the pupil: first name, year group, the subjects they need help with, the school they attend, and what they are finding difficult.
- During tuition: notes on what was covered, progress, and any targets agreed with you.
- Enquiries: anything you choose to tell us in the enquiry form, by email, by text or on the phone.
We do not ask for, and would rather you did not send us, information about a pupil's health, diagnoses or support needs beyond what is necessary for us to teach them well. Where you do share something of that kind, we use it only to adapt sessions and keep it to the minimum.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
| What for | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Replying to an enquiry and arranging a trial session | Taking steps at your request before entering a contract |
| Arranging, delivering and billing for tuition | Performance of our contract with you |
| Keeping progress records so sessions build on each other | Our legitimate interest in providing effective tuition |
| Keeping financial records | Legal obligation (tax and accounting) |
| Sending occasional updates about availability or services | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
Pupils' information
We collect information about children from their parent or carer, not from the child. A parent or carer arranges tuition, agrees what we work on, and can ask at any time to see or correct what we hold about their child. We keep what we hold about a pupil to what we need in order to teach them.
Who else sees it
We do not sell your information and we do not share it for advertising. A small number of service providers process it on our behalf:
- Cloudflare — hosts this website and handles the traffic that reaches it.
- Web3Forms — delivers enquiry form submissions to our inbox.
- Cal.com — runs the online booking page, where you book a session yourself.
- Our email and phone providers — carry the messages between us.
We may also share information where the law requires it, or where we have a safeguarding duty to pass a concern to the appropriate authority. We would not seek your permission first in that situation.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to tuition: [6 / 12] months, then deleted.
- Pupil and session records: for as long as we tutor the pupil, and [12 / 24] months afterwards in case you come back to us.
- Invoices and payment records: six years, as tax law requires.
Where it is held
Our records are kept on [password-protected devices / cloud storage] that only we can access. Some of the providers listed above process data outside the UK; where they do, they are covered by the safeguards UK data protection law requires for international transfers.
Cookies
This website does not set advertising or analytics cookies and does not track you across other sites. Cloudflare may set a cookie that is strictly necessary for security. If you open the booking panel, Cal.com may set cookies needed to run the booking process — their own privacy notice covers that.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of what we hold about you or your child;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete information we no longer need;
- restrict or object to how we use it;
- stop sending you updates, at any time.
Email or phone us using the details above and we will respond within one month. There is no charge.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put it right first.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page and change the date at the top.
